New Visual for the The Good Place Operating System (GPOS)

Same powerful framework. New way to visualize it.
At The Good Place Institute, we believe visuals matter. Since the beginning, we have illustrated the Good Place Operating System (GPOS) as a puzzle – each area as a unique piece that connects to each other to form a greater wholistic picture. While this remains true, we are introducing the GPOS “Wheel” as the primary visual for the Good Place Operating System for more clarity and simplicity.
The GPOS “Wheel” outlines a clear, organized, and journey approach to how the Good Place Operating System functions. It serves as a roadmap that helps organizations align people and resources, integrate systems and processes, all working toward a unified purpose—specifically, the three core aims that define Good Place organizations. The Wheel allows for flexibility, offering both a comprehensive journey and modular entry points so clients can start where it makes the most sense for them. By focusing on foundational building blocks and additional areas of alignment and application, the GPOS ensures every organization can progress effectively toward fulfilling its collective Kingdom purpose.
What Stays the Same?
- The 10 organizational building block areas are foundational, aligned, and integrated.
- The purpose and design of the operating system to achieve Kingdom success and fulfill the 3 main aims of Good Place organizations.
- The Kingdom organizational design and stewardship culture built up and lived out.
- The organization is designed to flourish.
What Changes?
We have upgraded “Managing the Business Formula” to “Unique Identity”, offering a more robust and meaningful approach to the uniqueness of an organization including Charter, Values, Value Proposition, The Way the organization delivers that Value, Unique Customer Experience Mapping, and Unique Employee Experience Mapping.
The Leader’s Guide While the current edition of the Leader’s Guide still includes the original “puzzle” visual, we are actively working on the 2nd Edition which will include this change as well as other updates and upgrades to the guide.
